The election process for the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha in the country has started from 19 April 2024. Elections are being conducted in seven phases for a total of 543 Lok Sabha seats in the country. Purple-black ink (indelible ink) is applied to the voter's left index finger when using a polling station to prevent duplicate ballots being cast in the election process.
