Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda inaugurated the 9th National Summit on Good & Replicable Practices and Innovation in the Public Healthcare System in Puri, Odisha on 28th February 2025.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other dignitaries were present during the inauguration ceremony.
The two-day conference will provide the states and Union Territories a platform to showcase their best practices and innovations for addressing public health challenges.
The state/Union Territories will also get an opportunity to share their knowledge and learn from other experiences on the management of public health issues.
The 8th National Summit on Good & Replicable Practices and Innovation in the Public Healthcare System was held in Kevadia, Gujarat, in May 2022
Organiser of the National Summit
The National Summit on Good & Replicable Practices and Innovation in the Public Healthcare System is organised by the National Health Mission under the Union Ministry of Health and Welfare.
- The first National Summit was held in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir in 2013.
- Second - Shimla, Himachal Pradesh in 2015
- Third- Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh in 2016.
- Fourth- Indore-Madhya Pradesh in 2017
- Fifth -Kaziranga Assam in 2018
- Sixth- Gujarat in 2019
- Seventh - Delhi (online)
- Eight - Kevadia, Gujarat in 2022
- Ninth- Puri, Odisha, in 2025
India to Achieve TB elimination target by 2025
- JP Nadda said that India is on track to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) from the country by the end of this year..
- The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) aims to eliminate TB from the world by 2030.
Special Screening Campaign
- The Minister said that the Health Ministries special screening campaign for non-communicable disease will continue till 31st March 2025.
- The Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare has launched a nationwide special screening campaign from 20th February 2025.
- During the campaign, all individuals aged 30 years and above will be screened for Diabetes, Hypertension, and three common cancers—Oral, Breast, and Cervical.
Day Care Cancer Center
- Minister said the government will set up 200 daycare centres for cancer patients in 2025-26.
- Every district will have at least one daycare centre for cancer patients by 2026-27.
