Industrial Corridor In India

Inspired by the success of various successful industrial corridor projects worldwide, the government of India launched the Industrial Corridor project in India. The first project to be approved was the Japanese-assisted Delhi-Mumbai Corridor in 2007.

The Industrial Corridor will connect the country's key economic hub through a multimodal transport system.

The National Industrial Corridor Project is a key component of the government’s policy to

  • boost manufacturing in the country,
  • attract domestic and foreign investment,
  • develop a world-class infrastructure and multi-modal transport system.

To develop industrial corridors in various parts of the country, the government of India launched a centrally sponsored project: the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP). Both the central and state governments are stakeholders in the NICDP.

The National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) is implementing the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme.

Industrial Nodes.

They operate on a plug-and-play model, meaning a company can come to this area and start production in the minimum possible time, as all the infrastructure needed for manufacturing is already there.

The government is also developing smart cities along the corridor so that the workers working in these nodes can live in a world-class, environmentally sustainable environment.
