Indian-origin Dave Sharma has been elected to Australian Senate

Former Indian-origin MP Devanand Noel Dev Sharma has been elected to the Upper House of the Australian Parliament. He is set to return to politics after his victory in the New South Wales Liberal Senate race.
- Former Foreign Minister Marise Payne is retiring from the Senate, in her place former Indian-origin MP Dave Sharma has been elected.

- Dave Sharma defeated former New South Wales minister Andrew Constance. According to a report, Dave Sharma defeated his rival 251-206 in the election held on 26 November 2023 by members of the New South Wales Liberal Party.

- Sharma defeated former New South Wales minister Andrew Constance 251–206 in the final vote by members of the New South Wales Liberal Party on 26 November 2023, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported. In fact, he had the support of moderates within the party.
Devanand Noel Sharma, or Dave Sharma:

- At the age of 37, this global Indian was appointed as Ambassador to Israel, making him one of Australia's youngest ambassadors and the second Australian ambassador of Indian heritage.
