According to the recently published DHL Global Connectedness Report 2024, India ranked 62nd on the DHL Global Connectedness 2023 Index. India was ranked 67th in the 2022 Index. The DHL Global Connectedness Report has been published annually since 2011. The report is commissioned by the German logistics company DHL and prepared by the New York University Stern School of Business.
A country's connectedness to the world is measured by the global movement of trade, capital, information, and people. Based on these indicators, the report ranks 181 countries and territories.
Highlights of the DHL Global Connectedness Report 2024
- The 2024 edition ranks the connectedness of 181 countries, accounting for 99.7% of the world's gross domestic product and 98.7% of its population.
- Singapore was the most globally connected country, followed by the Netherlands and Ireland.
- 143 countries became more globally connected.
- Only 38 countries reported a decline in the levels of connectedness.
- The report found Europe to be the most globally connected region. After Europe, the most connected regions were North America, followed by the Middle East(West Asia) and North Africa.
- The report found that Corporate globalisation is rising worldwide. More and more companies are expanding their international presence and earning more from sales abroad.
DHL Global Connectedness Report 2024 on India
- According to the DHL Global Connectedness Report 2024, India, being the world’s fastest-growing major economy, will increasingly play an important role in furthering globalisation over the coming decade.
- India was ranked 62nd out of 181 economies based on 2022 data tracking global trade flows, capital, information and people.
- India was ranked 9th worldwide on the breadth of its merchandise trade. The Breadth dimension measures the reach of a country across the world in terms of import and export(Trade),
- China was ranked first, and the United States of America was ranked 2nd on the Breadth dimension.
- According to the report based on the combined indicators of trade, capital, information, and people flows, India is the largest partner for 10 countries, including the United Arab Emirates and Bangladesh.
- India is already among the 10 largest partners for the combined indicators of trade, capital, information, and people flows of 60 countries.
- The report predicts that as India's economy and trade grow,it will become a key partner for a growing circle of countries.
