India's largest commercial bank, the State Bank of India (SBI) has announced on 6th September 2023 that its mobile banking app Yono will be available in four more countries in the next one year.
At present the Yono app is available in nine countries of the United Kingdom , Bahrain, Bangladesh, Canada, Mauritius, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
Speaking at the 4th Global Fintech Fest , Sreenivasulu Setty, Managing Director – International banking said that SBI will launch its app Yono in the US ,Singapore and Oman in the next 12 months. He didn’t mention the fourth country. Thus in the next 12 months Yono app will be available in 13 countries .
Yono (You Need Only One) mobile app and website was launched by SBI in 2014. It is an integrated digital banking platform of SBI to enable its customers access to a variety of financial services offered by SBI and its subsidiary companies.
According to the SBI Chairman Dinesh Khara around 85 per cent of banking transactions by the bank's customers are done through Yono.Khara had also said the bank was working on the next generation Yono or Yono 2.0.
Setty also said that out of the 10 billion UPI transactions recorded in August, as much as 38 per cent was through the SBI network.
