According to a recent news report published in the The Economic Times, Madhya Pradesh , Haryana , Tamil Nadu, Bihar and West Bengal have emerged as top five states with highest placement of skilled workers trained under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).
According to the news paper report since the launch of the PMKVY in 2015
Madhya Pradesh provided jobs to 30.7% of its skill certified candidates followed by
Haryana (29.6%),
Tamil Nadu (27.6%),
Bihar (25.4%),and
West Bengal (24.7%).
The placement figure in these states is higher than those of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan with the highest number of certified candidates.
The placement rate in Uttar Pradesh was 21.2%, Rajasthan 8.3% and in Maharashtra it was 8.3%
Uttar Pradesh- 19 lakhs
Maharashtra -12 lakhs
Rajasthan- 10.9 lakhs
Madhya Pradesh- 90 lakhs
Tamil Nadu- 7.5 lakhs
Assam - 7.2 lakhs
Haryana - 6.5 lakhs
Bihar - 6.3 lakhs
West Bengal - 5.8 lakhs
Odisha - 5.5 lakhs
These 10 states constitute 58.9% or 7.3 million of total youth certified under PMKVY and 63. 2% or 1.54 million placed out of the total placement of 2.43 million in over eight years since the start of the scheme .
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship scheme of the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
It was launched on 15th July 2015.
The PMKVY is being implemented by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The objective of this Skill Certification scheme is to enable Indian youth to take up industry relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood.
Under the PMKVY both Short term and Prior learning training are imparted to the youth .
Indian citizens who are either school/college dropouts or unemployed are provided training in soft skills, entrepreneurship, financial and digital literacy as per the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). Upon successful completion of assessment, candidates are provided placement assistance.
It refers to an assessment process used to evaluate a person's existing skill sets, knowledge and experience gained either by formal, non-formal or informal learning. The objective is to train the person as per the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).
