The Prime Minister virtually addressed the 'Mazdooron Ka Hit Mazdooron ko Samarpit' programme, which was planned to pay workers at Indore's Hukumchand Mill who had been owed money for 30 years. The Prime Minister urged everyone to take benefit of all government programmes by participating in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra. The Prime Minister cited Asia's largest operational Gobardhan Plant and the city's development of EV charging infrastructure as examples.
Details of the Event
- Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, on behalf of the Prime Minister, symbolically handed over a check of Rs 224 crore to the Official Liquidator and trade union heads of Hukumchand Mill, Indore.
- Under this event, the Prime Minister laid the groundwork for a 60 MW (220 acre) solar power plant being built by Indore Municipal Corporation in the villages of Samraj and Ashukhedi in Khargone district.
- Mr. Modi also virtually launched this 220-acre solar power plant that cost 308 crore rupees to build.
- This will save four crore rupees in electricity expenses each month.
- Indore Municipal Corporation issued green bonds of Rs 244 crore to fund the development of the solar facility. It was the country's first urban body to issue green bonds.
Background
- The Hukumchand Mill in Indore was closed in 1992 and went into liquidation, which led to a protracted court struggle between the workers and the company for unpaid wages.
- The settlement plan calls for the Madhya Pradesh government to pay all outstanding debts, take custody of the mill land, and develop it into residential and commercial space.
