India's first long-range revolver Prabal, manufactured by state-owned company Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL), Kanpur, will be launched on 18th August 2023.
The Prabal revolver has a firing range upto 50 metres ,more than twice the range of other revolvers . It is the first time that a revolver is being manufactured in India which has a side swing cylinder.
The AWEIL manufactures small arms and artillery guns for the use of the Indian armed forces, foreign military and for domestic civilian use. Its famous military products are Dhanush Cannon, Sarang Cannon, Prabal Revolver, Prahar Revolver, Belt Fed Machine Gun, Light Machine Gun, Carbine, Howitzer Barrel, Super Rapid Gun Mounted, Pinak Rocket Launcher, and IFG Cannon.
Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL)
Advanced Weapons & Equipment India Ltd. (AW&EIL) is one of the seven (7) new Defence PSUs formed by converting the Ordnance Factory Board into fully Government owned Enterprises. AW&EIL has been incorporated under the Companies Act 2013 on 14th August, 2021.
AW&EIL comprises of the following production units:
Rifle Factory Ishapore(West Bengal), Small Arms Factory, Kanpur, Gun & Shell Factory, Cossipore(West Bengal), Ordnance Factory Tiruchirapalli(Tamil Nadu)i, Ordnance Factory, Kanpur, Field Gun Factory, Kanpur, Gun Carriage Factory, Jabalpur, and Ordnance Factory Project Korwa (Uttar Pradesh).
