The 2nd edition of the World Food India 2003 organsied by the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries will be held in New Delhi from 3-5th November 2023. The three day World Food India 2003 will introduce the rich Indian food culture to the world and aims to promote investments in the diverse food processing sector of the country.
The first World Food India was oragnised by the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries in 2017.
The theme of the 2nd World Food India 2023 was ‘Processing for Prosperity’.
The brand mascot of the 2nd World Food India 2023 was MillInd. It is made of two words Mill and Ind .
Mill stands for millets and Ind stands for the host country India which has the potential to become the Food basket of the World.
The United Nation has declared 2023 as the ‘International Years of Millet’.
India is the largest producer of millets in the world .
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has renamed Millets as Shree Anna.
The World Food India 2023 envisaged to showcase India as the Food Basket of the World and to explore the investment and collaboration opportunities in food processing, technology & equipment, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, cold chain, and food retail.
India is one of the world’s largest producers and consumers of food products.
India is the largest producer of milk,mango papaya , guava,ginger,okra and buffalo meats in the world.
India is the second largest producer of rice ,potatoes, garlic and cashew nuts.
A number of events like exhibition, conference etc were organised which saw the participation of delegates from India and abroad.
It brought together investors, manufacturers, producers, food processors, policy makers and organisations from the global food ecosystem.
A country which is a major producer and exporter of food is generally called the food basket of the world.
The United States of America is considered as the food basket of the world as it is the leading supplier of wheat,corn in the world.
Ukraine which was known as the breadbasket of Europe is now considered as the food basket of the world.
