President Draupadi Murmu has appointed former Jharkhand chief ministers Raghubar Das and Indra Sena Reddy Nallu as the governors of Odisha and Tripura, respectively. An official order was issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on 18 October 2023.
Raghubar Das is currently a national vice president of the BJP. He was the chief minister of Jharkhand from 2014 to 2019. Indra Sena Reddy Nallu is from Telangana and is a Bharatiya Janata Party leader.
Article 153 of the Indian constitution provides for a Governor for each state. However, the President can appoint a person as Governor for two or more States.
According to Article 155 of the constitution, the President of India appoints the Governor of a state on the advice of the Union Council of Ministers.

Like the President of India, the governor of a state is the head of the state executive. The governor exercises his power on the aid and advice of the state council of ministers headed by the state chief minister.
