The Indian Navy has declared the year 2024 as the 'Year of Naval Civilians' in order to address all aspects of civilian human resource management. This has been done by the Indian Navy with a view to improve the administration, efficiency and welfare of the Navy's civilian personnel in civilian human resource management.
- The Indian Navy has identified these key focus areas in terms of maximizing certain specific activities for implementation in 2024. Which are as follows:
- Administrative Efficiency
- Digital Initiatives
- General and Specific Training Programs
- Welfare Activity.
Indian Navy Civilian Personnel:
- Civilian personnel of the Navy constitute approximately one-third of the total workforce of the Indian Navy. These civilian personnel contribute significantly to the operational effectiveness of all areas of the Navy.
- Civilian personnel of the Indian Navy contribute to the operations of various naval formations. Mainly among these:
- Command Headquarters
- Dockyard
- Content Organization
- Naval Ordnance Depot
- Naval Armament Inspectorate
- Training Establishment
- Additionally, civilian personnel of the Indian Navy influence the overall performance of many other types of support units.
Past initiatives focused on Navy's civilian personnel:
- Several initiatives have been envisioned and implemented in the past to enhance organizational efficiency and satisfaction levels among civilian personnel.
- It is necessary that the civilian personnel of the Navy be promoted in their administration, training, welfare etc.
- With this, not only they would be able to keep the Indian Navy always ready for war. Rather, they would be able to contribute effectively to remaining a credible, united and capable force for the future. Therefore, declaring the year 2024 as a year dedicated to them is an important step in this direction.
