Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the PM Vishwakarma Yojana at the India International Convention Center in New Delhi on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti on 17 September 2023.
The main event of PM Vishwakarma Yojana will be organized at the India International Convention and Expo Center located in Dwarka, New Delhi.
Financial allocation on PM Vishwakarma Yojana:
- The Central Government had announced the launch of PM Vishwakarma Yojana in the Union Budget 2023-24. The financial outlay for this scheme has been kept at Rs 13,000 crore from FY 2023-24 to FY 2027-28.
- Under the scheme, loan assistance up to Rs 1 lakh (first installment) and Rs 2 lakh (second installment) will be provided to those people with a concessional interest rate of 5 percent.
Objective of PM Vishwakarma Yojana:
- PM Vishwakarma Yojana aims not only to financially support the artisans and craftsmen in rural and urban areas across the country but also to keep the age-old tradition, culture and diverse heritage alive and thriving through local products, arts and crafts.
- The main objective of the scheme involving 18 traditional artisans and workers is to improve the availability and quality of products and services.
- Apart from this, it also has to be linked with domestic and global value chains.
- Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana aims to strengthen and nurture Guru-Shishya Parampara and family-based businesses of traditional skills.
Toolkit incentive of Rs 15,000:
- According to the ministry, a toolkit incentive of Rs 15,000 will be provided to the beneficiaries under the scheme.
- Along with this, basic skills training will be provided to the beneficiaries with a stipend of Rs 500 per day.
Vishwakarma certificate and ID will be given:
- Under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, any one person from 30 lakh families will be connected.
- Apart from this, PM Vishwakarma Certificate and ID will be provided after registration through Common Service Centres.
- Under the scheme, attention is being given to skill development, market access and economic support of the people associated with these works. They will be given basic and advanced training. Incentives will also be given in digital transactions.
Benefits to Vishwakarmas under the scheme:
- Under this, free registration of Vishwakarmas will be done through Jan Seva Kendras using the biometric-based PM Vishwakarma portal.
- Apart from this, skill upgradation including basic and advanced training and a toolkit worth Rs 15,000 will be given as incentive.
Total 18 crafts included in the scheme:
- A total of 18 traditional crafts have been included in the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. These include carpenters, boat makers, armor makers, blacksmiths, hammer and tool kit makers, locksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, sculptors, stone breakers, cobblers, masons, basket/mat//broom makers, doll and toy makers, garland makers, manufacturers, washermen, tailors and fishing net makers are included.
