According to the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, the first Khelo India Beach Games will be held in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu from 19-25 May 2025.
The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports announced the calendar of the Khelo India Games to be organised in 2025 after the successful conclusion of the Khelo India Winter Games in Jammu & Kashmir and Gulmarg in January–February 2025, the Khelo India Para Games in Delhi in March-April 2025, and the 7th Khelo India Youth Games held in Bihar in May 2025.
Six competitive and two demonstration sports will be held in the first edition of the Khelo India Beach Games 2025.
No medals are awarded in the demonstration sport.
Competitive sports -Beach soccer, Pencak silat, Sepaktakraw or kick volleyball, Beach kabaddi, Beach volleyball, and open water swimming.
Demonstration sports - Tug of War and Mallakhamb
Venue- the games will be held at Ghoghla Beach and Diu Beach.
Over 1000 athletes from 22 states/Union Territories are expected to participate in the first Khelo India Beach Games 2025.
The Khelo India Games is an initiative of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports to strengthen grassroots sports and athlete development across the country. Khelo India aims to revive sports culture at the grassroots level and find athletes who can excel at international sporting events like the Olympics, etc.
Four National-level Khelo India Games
There are four national-level Khelo India games, which the Ministry organises in collaboration with the respective Sports Federations. These four Games are - Khelo India Winter Games, Khelo India Youth Games, Khelo India University Games and Khelo India Para Games.
The government has also announced a restructuring of the Khelo India School Games. The Games will follow a tiered structure with games to be organised at District, State and National levels.
The Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, announced the introduction of the new Khelo India Games, which are focused on promoting traditional Indian sports.
