JP Nadda Inaugurates the 2nd Global Food Regulators Summit 2024 Summit and Conference 3 min read

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda (JP Nadda), inaugurated the second edition of the Global Food Regulators Summit 2024 in New Delhi. The 2nd Global Food Regulators Summit 2024 is organised alongside the 3rd World Food India 2024 on 20-21 September 2024.

The valedictory session of the 2nd Global Food Regulators Summit 2024 will be addressed by the Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lallan Singh, on 21 September 2024.

The first Global Food Regulators Summit 2023 was organised in New Delhi as a co-branded event with the G20 Summit.

The summit brings together countries' food regulators to exchange information on aspects of food regulation and safety requirements. It also provides an opportunity to promote cooperation between the food regulators of various countries.

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), which is an autonomous body under the  Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the 2nd Global Food Regulators Summit 2024 on  20-21 September 2024 in New Delhi.

Delegates from over 50 countries, including food regulatory bodies, risk assessment authorities, and research institutes, are attending the 2nd Global Food Regulators Summit 2024.

The Codex Alimentarius Commission, an intergovernmental body of the World Health Organization ( WHO) and Food and Agricultural Organisations (FAO), is also participating in the summit. 

The Director General of the WHO, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, virtually addressed the inaugural session of the 2nd Global Food Regulators Summit 2024.

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a statutory body which was set up in 2008 under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006.

FSSAI's mandate is to establish science-based standards for food in the country and regulate its manufacturing, storage, distribution, sale, and import.

Its job is to ensure the availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption in the country.
