Indian External Affairs Minister, Dr S Jaishankar, hosted the 4th India-Central Asia Dialogue in New Delhi on 6th June 2025. The foreign ministers of the five Central Asian countries—Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan —participated in the 4th India-Central Asian Dialogue.
The foreign ministers of India and the five Central Asian countries also attended the 4th India-Central Asia Business Council meeting in New Delhi to promote business ties.
PM Modi extends invitation for the 2nd India-Central Asia Summit
The foreign ministers of the Central Asian countries met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- During the meeting, the Prime Minister formally invited the leaders of the five Central Asian countries to participate in the 2nd India-Asia Central Asia Summit meeting, to be held in India in 2025.
- The first India-Central Asia Summit meeting was held virtually on 27 January 2022.
- During their meeting with PM Modi, they condemned the Pahalgam terror incident of 22nd April 2025 in which 26 tourists were killed by terrorists of the Resistance Front (TRF), which is a front organisation of Lashkar-e-Toiba of Pakistan.
About India Central Asian Dialogue
The India Central Dialogue is a foreign minister format that discusses regional issues to strengthen India's central relations.
- The first India Central Dialogue was held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on 13 January 2019.
- The 2nd was held in digital mode and was hosted by India on 28 October 2020.
- The third India Central Asia Dialogue meeting was held in New Delhi in December 2021.
Who attended the meeting
Dr Jaishankar hosted the fourth meeting of the India-Central Asia Dialogue, which was attended by Rashid Meredov of Turkmenistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin of Tajikistan, Murat Nurtleu of Kazakhstan, Zheenbek Kulubaev of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Murat Nurtleu of Kazakhstan.
Decision taken at the meeting
- Uzbekistan will host the first India-Central Asia Digital Partnership Forum.
- Tajikistan will host the 2nd meeting of India-Central Asia Culture Ministers.
- The Kyrgyz Republic will host the 3rd meeting of the National Security Council on counter terrorism.
- The Central Asian countries supported India’s bid to become a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
- The next meeting of the India-Central Asia Dialogue will be held in 2026.
4th India Central Asia Business Council meeting 2025
- The 4th India Central Asia Business Council meeting was held in New Delhi on 5 June 2025.
- The India Central Asia Business Council meeting is a business-to-business meeting of India and the Central Asian Countries.
- Established in 2020 under the India-Central Asia Dialogue framework to promote regional trade.
- The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (FICCI), in association with the Ministry of External Affairs, organises the India Central Asia Business Council meeting.
- The 3rd India Central Asian Business Council meeting was held in Uzbekistan in September 2024.
