The government of India has expanded the list of agricultural commodities traded on the electronic- National Agricultural Market (e-NAM)  platform and included 10 new agricultural commodities.

With the addition of the 10 new commodities the total agricultural commodities traded on e-NAM is 231.

Newly added agricultural commodities 

The 10 newly added agricultural commodities are Dried Tulsi Leaves; Besan (Chickpea Flour); Wheat Flour; Chana Sattu (Roasted Chickpea Flour); Water Chestnut Flour; Asafoetida; Dried Fenugreek Leaves; Water Chestnut; Baby Corn; Dragon Fruit.

About e-NAM

The e-NAM is an electronic platform that was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 14th April 2016.

It is an all-India electronic trading portal that has created a national market for permitted agricultural commodities.

Who manages the e-NAM

The e-NAM is fully funded by the government of India and is implemented by the Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. 

Objectives of the e-NAM

  • The e-NAM was set up to provide better marketing opportunities for the farmers to sell their produce through an online competitive and transparent price discovery system and online payment facility.
  • The portal provides information on the single window services for all APMC (Agricultural Produce & Livestock Market Committee) )-related information and services. 
  • It provides information regarding the arrival of commodities, quality, and price of the commodities in the APMC.
  • It provides better and real-time price discovery based on the actual demand and supply of agri-commodities.
