The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has initiated an information, education, and communication campaign. It aims to create awareness of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan. Aadhaar cards, community certificates, and Jan Dhan accounts would all be made available by the Ministry throughout the campaign. These events will take place in Haat Bazar, Gram Panchayats, Common Service Centres, Anganwadis, Van Dhan Vikas Kendras, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras.

Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan Campaign

  • The campaign aims to raise awareness of government programmes and achieve complete saturation in tribal habitations controlled by Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG).
  • The campaign intends to reach out to 22,000 PVTG tribal habitations in 200 districts across the country. 
  • The programme will ensure that no Vulnerable Tribal Group family is left out owing to distance, a lack of road and digital connectivity, and will provide services right at their door. 

Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM-JANMAN on Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas. 
  • It was launched from the Khunti District of Jharkhand.
  • The system will be implemented from FY 2023-24 to FY 2025-26.
  • PM-JANMAN will focus on important programs of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG)

  • A particularly vulnerable tribal group, or PVTG, is a Scheduled Tribe sub-classification or component of a Scheduled Tribe.
  • PVTGs are the most vulnerable tribal group. 
  • Primitive Tribal tribes (PTGs) are also known as the least developed of the tribal tribes. It was defined as a separate category by the Dhebar Commission in 1973.
  • In 2006, the PTGs were renamed to PVTGs by the Indian government.
  • Odisha has the largest number (15) of PVTGs among the 75 listed.
