Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) has given the first Radio Frequency (RF) Seeker of Akash – the Next Generation Weapon System to the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). This RF Seeker was produced at BDL's newly set-up Seeker Facility Centre (SFC), which uses advanced technology.
Seeker is a critical and technology-intensive subsystem used in surface-to-air missiles and air-to-air missiles for target tracking in the terminal stage.
The RF seeker has been designed by DRDO's Research Center Imarat, and manufactured by BDL at its state-of-the-art seeker facility set up at BDL, Kanchanbagh Unit in Hyderabad.
Missiles are sophisticated, self-propelled flying weapons designed to carry an explosive warhead with high speed and precision.
They are capable of adjusting their trajectory during flight, making them effective in targeting moving objects or specific locations.
Missiles come in various types and sizes, ranging from small, portable anti-tank missiles to large, long-range ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
