100th medal for India in an Asian Games

The women's kabaddi team won the 100th medal for India at the Hangzhou Asian Games on day 14 of the 19th Asian Games. India became the fourth country in the 19th Asian Games to win 100 or more medals after China, Japan and South Korea. Before the Hangzhou Asian Games, India's best-ever medal tally was at the  2018 Jakarta Asian Games. India had won 70 medals, 16 gold,23 silver and 31 bronze medals at the Jakarta Games.

Double Gold in Kabaddi

The men's and the women's kabaddi teams won gold in their respective events. The Indian men's team defeated Iran in the final. The Indian men's team has now won 8 gold medals at the Asian Games since its introduction in the 1990 Beijing Asian Games. Iran is the other team which has won gold in the kabaddi event at the Asian Games. At the last Jakarta Asian Games, India lost to Iran in the final to settle for a silver medal.

The Indian women's kabaddi team defeated Chinese Taipei(Taiwan) in the final to win a gold medal. It was the third gold medal for the women's team in the Asian Games.

Historic Gold in Cricket

The Indian women's and men's cricket participated for the first time in an Asian Games. Cricket in the T20 format was introduced in the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games and was also included in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

The final match against Afghanistan played at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field, was abandoned due to rain after Afghanistan made 112/5 in 18.2 overs. The gold medal was awarded to India due to its higher seedings. The Indian team was led by Rituraj Gaikwad. Bangladesh won the bronze medal, defeating Pakistan.

Earlier, the Indian women's cricket team led by Harmanpreet Singh had won gold by defeating the Sri Lankan team in the final.

Historic Gold in Badminton
