Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba arrived in New Delhi on 28 March 2024 on a two-day official visit to India. This visit of Dmytro Kuleba is taking place on the invitation of Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. This is Dmytro Kuleba's first visit to India.

Main events of Dmytro Kuleba in India:

  • Dmytro Kuleba will meet with the Foreign Minister and the Deputy National Security Advisor and attend a number of other events.
  • According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the two leaders will discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest and matters of bilateral partnership and cooperation.
  • The Foreign Minister of Ukraine is also scheduled to meet business representatives.

Purpose of Dmytro Kuleba's visit to India:

  • His visit comes amid efforts to find a peaceful solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict that has been going on for more than two years.
  • This marks the first visit of a Ukrainian Foreign Minister to India in 7 years. The aim of this visit is to enhance Ukraine-India relations. Ukraine considers India an important global power with a strong international influence. We are confident that closer cooperation will benefit both countries.

PM Modi had talks with the Presidents of Russia and Ukraine:

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on March 20.
  • Prime Minister Modi emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the sole means to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
  • PM Modi had spoken over the phone to congratulate Putin for winning for the fifth time in the recent elections. He then called up Zelensky to convey India's continued support for all efforts for peace and an early resolution.

India has never been in favour of war:

  • Ukraine understands that India is not supportive of war and has maintained neutrality in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Since this entire conflict, India's relation with Russia and Ukraine has been as strong as it was before.
  • Ukraine acknowledges that India can play a significant role in halting the war. Ukrainian President Zelensky has called on India to act as a peacemaker.
