Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 September 2023 greeted the Jewish people around the world and specially the people of Israel and its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the Jewish new year of Rosh Hashanah.

What is Rosh Hashanah?

Rosh Hashanah in Hebrew language means “the head of the year”. It's a two day festival which marks the start of the Jewish new year. Rosh Hashanah begins on the first day of the seventh month of the Hebrew calendar . This year the Rosh Hashanah is being observed on 15  and 16 September  2023.

According to some Jews on this day God created the first male ,Adam and first female ,Eve ,thus creating a human being.

According to some estimates there are around 15.2 million Jewish people in the world in 2022. The maximum number Jews live in Israel  followed by the United States of America.
