‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ is celebrated every year on 15 November. ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ is celebrated every year on the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. It is celebrated to recognize the efforts of tribals in preserving cultural heritage and promoting Indian values of national pride, bravery and hospitality. Also, Jharkhand is celebrating its 23rd Foundation Day on 15 November 2023.

  • On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Ulihatu, the birthplace of Lord Birsa Munda in Khunti, Jharkhand. He is the first Prime Minister of the country to visit this tribal area of Jharkhand.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a tour of various areas of Jharkhand from 14 to 15 November 2023. During this period, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate many schemes and also lay the foundation stones. 

         These can be seen in the following forms:

PVTG Mission of Rs 24 thousand crore:

  • PM Modi will also launch a Rs 24,000 crore scheme aimed at the overall development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
  • On November 15, the Prime Minister will launch a campaign to reach out to beneficiaries of major central government schemes in urban and rural areas.
  • There are a total of 75 vulnerable tribal groups in the country, which reside in 22544 villages in 220 districts. Their total population is about 28 lakhs.

Facilities will reach vulnerable tribal groups:

  • The aim is to provide facilities to this community through PM Vulnerable Tribal Group Mission.
  • Roads, telecom, electricity, safe houses, pure drinking water, sanitation, education, health and nutrition and means of livelihood will be provided to their homes.
  • Apart from this, the target is to extend the benefits of PMJAY, Sickle Cell Disease Eradication, TV Eradication, 100 percent vaccination, PM Matru Vandan Yojana, PM Poshan and PM Jan Dhan Yojana to remote areas to the tribal community.

Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra:

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra on 15 November 2023, which aims to ensure full benefits of the Centre's flagship schemes in 2.7 lakh panchayats by 25 January 2024.
  • The objective is also to create awareness about these schemes through the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra. The Prime Minister will flag it off from Khunti. After this it will start in all the districts.
  • As part of the yatra, PM Modi will flag off the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) van which will pass through many areas of the country. By this the government wants to ensure that the benefits of all its schemes reach all the target groups in a time bound manner.

19 vans will be sent from Jharkhand:

  • The Prime Minister will flag off five to seven of those vans in Khunti. Along with this, a total of 19 vans will be sent from Jharkhand which are 226 gram panchayats in nine districts of the state where these vans will go.
  • 118 vans will be dispatched to the country on November 15. Altogether there are about 2800 vans across the country, which will roam around for the next two months to inform people about all the schemes - be it housing or drinking water or financial inclusion.
  • Under the campaign, we will start from tribal areas in 69 districts of 21 states of the country and will reach 393 blocks of 8940 gram panchayats in the first phase.
  • Under this yatra, 2.7 lakh gram panchayats and around 15,000 urban locations in the country will be visited, where these automated IEC vans will conduct activities at the grassroots level.
  • These vans are designed to communicate with people, inform them about major programs and what has been achieved so far.

Efforts to reach government benefits to the grassroots level:

  • The Central Government is ensuring that the benefits of welfare schemes like sanitation facilities, essential financial services, electricity connections, LPG cylinders to all, housing for the poor, food security, nutrition programmes, reliable health facilities, pure drinking water reach the grassroots level.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones of these schemes:

  • 52 km long Mahagama-Hansdiha four lane on National Highway-133.
  • 45 km long Basukinath-Deoghar four lane on NH-14A.
  • KDH-Purnadih Coal Handling Plant.
  • New Academic Building of Triple IT, Ranchi.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate these schemes:

  • New campus of IIM, Ranchi.
  • New hostel of IIT ISM Dhanbad.
  • Petroleum and lubricant depot in Bokaro.
  • Doubling of Hatia-Pakra, Talgaria-Bokaro and Jarangdih-Patratu section line of Railways.
  • 100 percent railway electrification in Jharkhand.
