National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) Bongaigaon has been honoured with two prestigious awards from the Greentech Foundation for its outstanding achievements in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environment Protection.

Greentech Environment Awards 2023:

NTPC Bongaigaon was awarded the trophy in the Environment Protection category at the 22nd Annual Greentech Environment Awards 2023 and the Trophy in the Rural Development category at the 10th Annual Greentech CSR India Awards.
For this, the award was presented to Akonthung Nguli, AGM (EMG & O&M/Civil), NTPC, at an award ceremony held in Sonamarg and Jammu and Kashmir.
The GreenTech Environmental Awards recognize responsible and innovative practices that promote sustainability by reducing environmental impact and providing long-term benefits for society.
NTPC Bongaigaon receiving these awards is a testament to its commitment towards environmental management and social responsibility.
These awards recognize dedication to sustainable practices and commitment to positive impact on communities.

BSP also awarded Greentech Award for Environmental Excellence:

It is noteworthy that on 28 November 2023, Bokaro Steel Plant (BSP) was also given the Greentech Environment Award-2023 in the environmental excellence category.
CGM (SMS-2 & CCS) Arvind Kumar handed over the Greentech Foundation Environmental Excellence Award for the year 2023 to Birendra Kumar Tiwari, Executive Director (Operations), in the seminar hall of the Executive Director (Operations).

Bokaro Steel plant:

The Bokaro Steel Plant stands as the fourth public sector steel plant. It was started in the year 1965 with the cooperation of the Soviet Union.
It was initially incorporated as a limited company on January 29, 1964 and later merged with SAIL. First it was a subsidiary company of SAIL and later a unit was formed under the Public Sector Iron and Steel Companies (Reorganization and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1978.
Construction work on Bokaro Steel Plant started on April 6, 1968.
