Kyrian Jacquet of France won the 2025 Chennai Open Tennis men’s single title by defeating Elias Ymer of Sweden in the final. The final was played at the SDAT Tennis Stadium in Nungambakkam, Tamil Nadu on 9 February 2025.
The 2025 Chennai Open Tennis tournament was an ATP 100 Challenger event. It was held from 3-9 February 2025 at Nungambakkam, Tamil Nadu.
It was the first ATP title for the 23 year old Kyrian Jacquet of France. In the 2025 Chennai Open final, World No. 273 ranked Kyrian Jacquet defeated World No.332 Elias Ymer of Sweden 7(7)-6(1), 6-4 in the final to win his first ATP title.
Earlier, Kyrian Jacquet defeated Dalibor Svrcina of Czechia 6-4, 6-1 in the semi-final while Elais Ymer defeated top seeded Billy Harris of Britain in the semi final 7-6(5), 7-6(2).
The doubles title of the 2025 Chennai Open Tennis was won by the Japanese pair of Shintaro Mochizuki and Kaito Uesugi. In the final the Japanese pair defeated the Indian pair of Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni 6-4, 6-4.
The Association of Tennis Professional (ATP), organises ATP tour and Challenger tour for men’s professional tennis players around the world. A series of events is held across the ATP Tour and the Challenger tour.
The ATP tour is the highest ranked men’s tennis tournament and Challenger Tour is considered to be the second highest tour for the professional players.
A tennis player has to play in the Challenger tour and win enough matches and points so that they can qualify for the ATP tournaments.
India will host four ATP Challenger tournaments in 2025. The first tournament was held in Chennai (3-9 February) and the other will be held in Delhi (February 10-16), Pune (February 17-23) and Bengaluru (February 24 - March 2).
The Chennai, Bengaluru and Pune event will be ATP 100 events in which the singles winners will get 100 ranking points and a prize money of USD 17,500.
The Delhi event will be an ATP 75 Challenger event in which the winner will get 75 ranking points and USD 14,200 as prize money.
The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) was set up by a leading men’s tennis player in 1972.
It organises the ATP tour for professional men’s tennis.
However the ATP does not organises the Grand Slam events- the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open.
