Banker A S Rajeev was sworn in as a member of the Central Vigilance Commission on 11 March 2024 in New Delhi . He was administered the oath of office as the Vigilance Commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission by the Central Vigilance Commissioner Praveen Kumar Srivastava. The other Vigilance Commissioner Arvinda Kumar was also present on the occasion.
Earlier, AS Rajeev was appointed the Vigilance Commissioner by President Droupdai Murmu on 9th February 2024.
A S Rajeev is a career banker and has more than 38 years of experience in four public sector banks Syndicate Bank, Indian Bank, Vijaya Bank and Bank of Maharashtra. During his tenure as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Maharashtra ,the bank graduated from being a small sized bank to a midsized bank with a healthy balance sheet.
Indian Bank emerged as a strong and profitable public sector bank during his tenure as the Executive Director in the Bank .
He has also served as a Nominee Director in the Export Import Bank Of India (EXIM Bank), New India Assurance Co Ltd and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). He was also the Vice Chairman of the Indian Banks Association (IBA) and Member of Core Group constituted by RBI for implementation of Indian Accounting Standards.
It consists of a Chairman and two vigilance commissioners. The tenure of a Central Vigilance Commissioner and vigilance commissioner is four years or until the incumbent attains the age of 65, whichever is earlier
