Union Minister Shri Gajendra Shekhawat Launches Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026

Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 campaign (हर घर तिरंगा) in New Delhi, to be observed across India from 9 to 17 August 2026, marking one of the country's largest public participation movements.

Speaking at the launch, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat noted that what began as a flag-hoisting drive in 2022 has grown into an annual tradition marked by community events, cultural programmes and digital participation. He described the Tiranga as more than a national symbol, calling it a mark of unity and the sacrifices of countless citizens, and invited people to use the occasion to reaffirm their commitment toward Viksit Bharat @2047.

Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026 Dedicated to 150 Years of the National Song 'Vande Mataram'

1. This year's edition coincides with the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, bringing the flag and national song together in celebration.
2. Mass singing of the song will be central to festivities, supported by a five-step online tutorial from the Ministry of Culture to help citizens learn its correct rendition. 
3. The Selfie with Tiranga feature will also include the song's lyrics and tune, alongside exhibitions tracing its history.

New Initiative 'SURYAPATH TIRANGA' to Connect Indian Missions Across the Globe

Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also unveiled SURYAPATH TIRANGA, envisioned as a symbolic global relay following the path of the rising sun with the flag hoisted successively at Indian missions from east to west, connecting overseas Indian communities in the celebrations.

Partition Horrors Remembrance Day to Be Observed Nationwide on 14 August

1. As part of Independence Day observances, Partition Horrors Remembrance Day will be marked with silent marches, exhibitions, documentary screenings, and a MyGov quiz.
2. The Ministry of Culture will coordinate major events in Delhi, Kolkata and Amritsar, featuring theatrical performances, exhibitions, and marches, with Delhi's march led by CM Rekha Gupta and LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and Amritsar's observance led by Shekhawat himself.
