National Horticulture Fair (NHF) 2024, was organized in Bengaluru. NHF 2024 was organized by the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR) from 5 to 7 March 2024.

  • The three-day NHF organized by IIHR began at Hesarghatta, Bengaluru.

Theme of National Horticulture Fair 2024:

  • The theme of NHF 2024 is 'Nextgen Technology-led Horticulture for Sustainable Development'.
  • NHF aims to spotlight innovations for income growth, water conservation, and sustainable practices.

Highlights of National Horticulture Fair 2024:

  • The event emphasizes water conservation for farmers in the drought-hit state. The focus was on new technologies such as smart irrigation, vertical farming, and digital gardening.
  • Its primary goal is to boost the income of farmers and ensure production of high quality horticultural goods.
  • The fair includes practical training and workshops covering various horticultural aspects.
  • With 250 dedicated stalls, the event saw participation of around 75,000 people from across the country which will give them an opportunity to find out the latest developments in the field.

25 farmers honored in National Horticulture Fair 2024:

  • Key farmers and associated agencies nationwide participated in the NHF in Bengaluru. During this program, many people and organizations related to agriculture were honored. Mainly among these: 
    • 5 farmers from north eastern states
    • 4 entrepreneurs
    • 5 food processing organizations
    • 5 Krishi Vigyan Kendra employees
    • 25 farmers.

Chief Organizer of National Horticulture Fair 2024:

  • Organized by Indian Horticultural Research Institute, Bengaluru & Society for Promotion of Horticulture.
  • The fair would display cutting-edge horticulture trends, sustainable practices, and new cultivation technologies.

Launch of National Horticulture Mission:

  • The Government of India started the National Horticulture Mission in the year 2005-2006. The program aims to expand horticulture areas and enhance crop quality and production.
  • Under the National Horticulture Mission, grants are given to farmers from time to time by running various schemes. Agriculture Dept. and Indian Horticultural Research Institute organize fairs.
