The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India and the Ministry of Information Communications and Information Technology of Tanzania. The MoU was signed on October 15, 2023. 

Objective of this MoU: 

  • The objective of this MoU is to promote cooperation. It aims to facilitate the exchange of experiences and digital technology-based solutions. This will support the implementation of digital transformation initiatives in both countries. 
  • Bilateral cooperation will be enhanced at G2G and B2B level in the field of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). The activities contemplated in this MoU will be funded through regular operating allocations for their administration.
  • This MoU envisages greater cooperation in promoting employment opportunities in the field of Information Technology (IT).

These proposals also approved by the Union Cabinet:

  • The Union Cabinet approved a draft agreement between the United States and India to improve innovation through an Innovation Handshake. 
  • The Cabinet approved the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) signed between India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. 
  • This agreement focuses on cooperation in digitalisation and electronic manufacturing. 
  • The Cabinet approved a Memorandum of Understanding between India and Italy. The memorandum is about cooperation in the field of industrial property rights.
  • Union Cabinet approves the declaration of Surat Airport as an International Airport.

  • The eastern region consists of coastal lowlands along the Indian Ocean.
