India hosts the 2nd Blue Talks ahead of 3rd UN Ocean Conference 2025

The Ministry of Earth Science, Government of India, hosted the 2nd Blue Talks in New Delhi on 20 May 2025. The Blue Talks were held to discuss the agendas of the forthcoming 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference 2025 to be held in Nice, France, from 9-13 June 2025.
New Delhi hosted the first Blue Talks in February 2024.
The Union Ministry of Earth Science organised the 2nd Blue Talks in collaboration with the Embassies of France and Costa Rica. Both France and Costa Rica are co-hosting the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference.
Dr. M. Ravichandran, Union Ministry of Earth Science, chaired the 2nd Blue Talks. It was co-hosted by Néstor Baltodano Vargas, Ambassador of Costa Rica to India and Damien Syed, Deputy Head of Mission, French Embassy.
The 2nd Blue Talks was attended by policymakers, scientists, academia, industry, civil society and global stakeholders. They assembled to discuss the agenda of the forthcoming 3rd UN Ocean Conference 2025 in France.
The discussion was centred around four themes:
The United Nations Ocean Conference 2025 is being co-hosted by France and Costa Rica in Nice, France, from 9-13 June 2025. The Conference seeks to mobilise world support for the
Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14.
Goal 14 calls for the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
The theme of the 3rd UN Ocean Conference is “Accelerating action and mobilising all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean.”
The first UN Ocean Conferences were co-hosted by Sweden and Fiji in 2017 in New York, United States of America.
The second UN Ocean Conference was co-hosted by Portugal and Kenya in 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal.
