Global Firepower Military Strength Ranking 2024: India at 4th Place

Global Firepower a website and a leading authority on military might, has released its annual ranking report of the world’s most powerful Armies. In the Military Strength Ranking Report 2024, America's military capability has been rated the highest in the list of the most powerful armed forces in the world. Russia is in second place, with China being in third. India is ranked fourth in this list.

145 countries were assessed:

• This year 145 countries have been assessed in the Global Fire Power Rankings for the year 2024. This year's rankings took into account more than 60 factors. Some of the major ones are:
  • Number of Soldiers
  • Military Equipment
  • Financial Stability
  • Geographical Situation
• PowerIndex (PwrIndx) scores are determined in conjunction with the above factors. Low scores indicate strong military capability.
• 'Our unique in-house formula allows smaller, more technologically advanced countries to compete with larger, less developed powers,' according to a release from Global Firepower. Special modifiers in the form of bonuses and penalties are applied to further refinements. This list is released every year.

Objective of releasing Global Fire Power Ranking:

• This multidimensional approach aims to present a holistic picture of military capabilities beyond firepower.
• Global Fire Power hopes to provide more detail about the global military, taking into account economic power, logistics and even geography.
• It also examined how each country's ranking changed from one year to the next.
