Indonesia won its first Badminton Asia Mixed Championship title, defeating China in the final of the 4th Badminton Asia Mixed Championship 2025. The 4th Badminton Asia Mixed Championship 2025.was organised by the Badminton Asia Confederation and hosted by the Chinese Badminton Association in Qingdao, China, in February 2025.
Twelve teams -China, Chinese Taipei, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong China, Japan, Thailand, Kazakhstan, India, South Korea, Macau China participated in the Championship
India, which was in Group D along with South Korea and Macau China, reached the quarter-final stage. In the quarterfinals, India lost to Japan 3-0 to bow out of the Championship.
In the history of the Badminton Asia Mixed Badminton Championship, India has won only one medal. It won a bronze medal at the 3rd edition held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates in 2023.
The Indonesia team defeated two-time champion China 3-1 in the final to lift their maiden Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship title.
The final, which lasted two hours and 26 minutes, dashed the Chinese hope of winning their third consecutive title.
In the opening match of the final, the Indonesian mixed pair of Rinov Rivaldi/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti defeated the Chinese pair of Gao Jia Xuan/Wu Meng Ying.
Indonesia went 2-0 up when, in the men’s singles, Indonesia’s Farhan defeated Chinese Hu Zhe An 21-15, 21-13.
China came back into the match when Xu Wen Jing of China defeated Indonesian women's champion Kusuma Wardani.
The Indonesian men’s doubles pair of Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Daniel Marthin defeated China’s Chen Xujun and Huang Di to secure the first title for Indonesia.
The losing semi-finalists, Japan and Thailand, were awarded bronze medals.
The Asian Badminton Mixed Team Championships is held every two years.
In the Championships, teams play five matches - one men’s singles, one women’s singles, one mixed doubles, one women’s doubles, and one men’s doubles- against each other.
The team that wins the first three matches is declared winner, and the remaining matches are not played.
