Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar who is on a three-day (30 July-1 August 2023) visit to Oman met the Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman Rear Admiral Saif Bin Nasser Bin Mohsen Al-Rahbi. The main aim of the visit is to expand bilateral military cooperation between the two nations.
Concurrent with the visit of the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), India's indigenous guided missile destroyer INS Visakhapatnam arrived at Port Sultan Qaboos in Muscat on 30 July 2023.
India-Oman maritime relations
India and Oman's maritime ties date back 4000 years BC. Formal bilateral relations started with the 1953 treaty. Naval exercises and defense cooperation have since bolstered their relationship.
