Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad to open campus in Dubai

The premier Indian higher educational institutions, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Ahmedabad and the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), will open their overseas campus in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The prestigious Indian Institute of Technology -Delhi already has a campus in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
This was announced during the visit of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, to India.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was on his first official visit to India from 8-9 April 2025.
During his visit to India, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum visited New Delhi and Mumbai.
Meeting with Indian Leadership
During his visit to New Delhi, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hosted a lunch in his honour at his official residence in Lok Kalyan Marg.
Sheikh Hamdan also met External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
In Mumbai, Sheikh Hamdan met Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, during the high-level business meeting.
Several Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements were announced during Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Agreements and MoUs between India and Dubai
The following are the agreements/MoUs signed between India and Dubai during Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's visit.
Education
- The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, will be set up in Dubai and its academic session will commence in September 2025.
- The first overseas campus of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade to be set up at the India Pavilion in Expo City Dubai.
Ship Repair
- MoU between Cochin Shipyard Ltd and Drydocks World to set up a ship repair facility at Kochi, Kerala, and Vadinar in Gujarat.
- The Drydocks World is a subsidiary company of the UAE's DP World Company.
Healthcare
- 100-bed India-UAE Friendship Hospital to be set up in Dubai.
Trade and Economics
- Dubai Chamber of Commerce to open an India office to facilitate Indian investment in the region.
- Construction work on Bharat Mart has commenced in Dubai. Bharat Mart is being built by the UAE’s DP World. It will be a marketplace that will provide Indian businesses access to markets in the West Asia, Africa, and Eurasia

Dubai is one of the seven Emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The seven emirates are Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Dubai, Umm al-Qaywayn, Ras al-Khaimah, Ajman, and Al-Fujayrah.
