Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Electronics & IT Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar emphasized the strong partnership between India and Japan, which goes beyond traditional areas like security, trade and economics to also include technology and skill. The India-Japan partnership is a defining partnership for the future of Asia, the Indo-Pacific and the world.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan, the partnership between the two countries has grown significantly in areas such as security, trade, and economics. Now, they are further strengthening their collaboration in the fields of technology and skill development.
In 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi began focusing on building the capabilities and capacities of skilling, reskilling, and upskilling young Indians.
The goal is to make them future-ready to tackle upcoming opportunities and challenges in the economy.
During the meeting, digitization trends, emerging new technologies and their resulting disruption were discussed, including AI, the future of the Internet, semiconductors or electronics.
India and Japan established diplomatic relations on 28 April 1952.
Japan is regarded as a key partner in India’s economic transformation.
