The Punjab administration has agreed to introduce a home delivery service for wheat and flour for the state's underprivileged. The framework of the project submitted by the Food and Civil Supplies Department. It has also been approved by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. This event is being held on the occasion of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Prakash Parv on November 27th. 

Punjab Atta Dal Scheme

  • Home delivery under the Punjab Atta Dal Scheme will begin in January of next year.
  • This campaign will be officially launched in November. 
  • This initiative would provide flour to 1.42 crore Pradhan Mantri Kalyan Anna Yojana recipients in the state.
  • Wheat has been allotted under the National Food Security Act for the months of October to December, according to the scheme's draft.
  • In addition, the government has designated three dozen flour mills for processing wheat.
  • Under the Flour-Pulse Scheme, the government would be able to distribute 72500 metric tonnes of rations per month.
  • According to the draft of the scheme, wheat has been allocated for the period from October to December under the National Food Security Act and its distribution among the beneficiaries has also started. 
  • Beneficiaries will get home delivery in January next year. The government has also identified three dozen flour mills for grinding wheat.

  • Bhagwant Singh Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, organised a cycling rally on Martyr Kartar Singh Sarabha's martyrdom day. 
  • CM Mann rode 13 km alongside thousands of young people at this rally. 
  • CM Mann also got over 25,000 youth aware of the drug-free Punjab programme during this event. 
  • Punjab Police in the state organised this cycling rally. 
  • The police have provided the message of breaking the back of drug addiction by making people aware through this cycle rally.

National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013

  • The National Food Security Act (NFSA) 2013, approved on July 5, 2013, signifies a paradigm change in food security. 
  • The National Food Security Act divides beneficiaries into two groups: Priority Households (PHH) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) households, each of whom is entitled to 35 kg of food grains each month (5 kilograms per person per month). 
  • Wheat costs 2 rupees per kg, rice costs 3 rupees per kg, and coarse grains cost 1 rupee per kg.
