Daljit Singh Chaudhary: New Director General of SSB Appointment 3 min read

Senior IPS officer Daljit Singh Chaudhary has been appointed as New Director General of Sashatra Seema Bal (SSB) as per the order released by the Personnel Ministry on 18 January 2024.

The Cabinet Committee of Appointments approved his appointment as the DG, SSB.

About Daljit Singh Chaudhary

He is a 1990 Batch IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He currently holds the post of Special Director of the General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

He replaced Anish Dayal Singh (extra charge) who was given charge after former DG Rashmi Shukla became the first DG of Maharashtra Police.

About Sashatra Seema Bal

 Sashatra Seema Bal was incepted in 1963 in the wake of the Indo-China War of 1962.

  • Its motto is Service Security Brotherhood.
  • It is one of the Central Armed Police Forces under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Incumbent Minister of Home Affairs is Amit Shah.
  • Sashatra Seema Bal was created as Special Service Body in 1963 which was renamed as Special Service Bureau in 1966 and later in 2003 it was renamed as Sashatra Seema Bal (SSB).
  • Sashatra Seema Bal guards the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan border.
