Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur and Tamil Nadu Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin released the mascot for the 6th Khelo India Youth Games in Chennai on 22 December 2023.
The official logo, jersey, torch and themed song for the 6th Khelo India Youth Games were also launched on the occasion.
6th Khelo India Youth Games Mascot
The mascot of the games is Veeramangai Velu Nachiyar.
Velu Nachiyar was the first queen to fight against the British colonial power in India.
Tamil people know her as Veeramangai (brave woman).
She was the princess of Ramanathapuram.
6th Khelo India Youth Games:
The 6th Khelo India Youth Games will be held from 19 to 31 January 2024 in tamilnadu.
It will be organised in Chennai, Trichy, Madurai and Coimbatore.
More than 5500 players will participate in it.
For the first time, Squash will be includedin these games.
Khelo India Youth Games:
The Khelo India Youth Games is an annual multidisciplinary grassroot sporting event held at the national level in India in January or February.
It is conducted for 2 groups of students –
1. Students under 17 years of age in secondary school
2. Students under 21 years of age in college
It was started in 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the name of Khelo India School Games.
In 2019, its name was changed to Khelo India Youth Games.
The last five editions of the Khelo India Youth Games were held in Delhi, Pune, Guwahati, Panchkula and Bhopal.

First Khelo India Para Games (KIPG):
The first Khelo India Para Games were held in New Delhi from 10 to 17 December.
A total of 7 sports competitions were organised in the first Khelo India Para Games.
KIPG 2023 mascot: Ujjwala (little sparrow)
Haryana became the champion by securing 105 medals including 40 gold, 39 silver and 26 bronze.
Uttar Pradesh finished second with a total of 62 medals including 25 gold, 23 silver and 14 bronze.
Tamil Nadu finished third with 20 gold, 8 silver and 14 bronze medals.
Athletes from 32 states and union territories actively participated in the games.
