UP Government Approves Establishment Of Atal Residential Schools Uttar Pradesh 4 min read

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on August 22 approved the development of 18 Atal residential schools on the lines of centrally-run Navodaya Vidyalayas at a cost of Rs 1,250 crore.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna told reporters that 23 proposals were approved in the cabinet meeting held at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's house.

  • According to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Khanna, the state government will spend Rs 1,250 crore on Atal residential schools to be built in all the 18 mandals of the state.
  • These schools will have a capacity of 1,000 students, including 500 girls and as many boys.
  • It will have classes from 6th to 12th. Children whose studies were affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic can also get admission in these schools.
  • According to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Khanna, these schools will serve as centres of excellence.

Atal Residential School:

  • Uttar Pradesh to provide the best educational facilities to the talented but underprivileged and orphaned children, the government is soon preparing to run Atal Residential Schools in Uttar Pradesh.
  • There are plans to operate these schools in 18 districts of the state and construction work is almost complete in 16 of these.
  • These schools are located in Azamgarh, Basti, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Bulandshahr (Meerut), Gonda, Gorakhpur, Lalitpur (Jhansi), Prayagraj, Sonbhadra (Mirzapur), Muzaffarnagar (Saharanpur), Banda, Aligarh, Agra, Varanasi, Kanpur, Bareilly, and Moradabad
  • By the end of August, these schools will be ready to start teaching students from class 6 to class 12, while the remaining two schools are likely to be operational by the end of this year.
  • These 18 residential schools, being built at a cost of ₹1,189.88 crore, will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and will be approved by CBSE.

Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme:

  • According to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Khanna, the cabinet also approved the purchase of 25 lakh smartphones to be distributed free of cost to students under the 'Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme'.

Chief Minister Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme:

  • In another important decision, the Mukhyamantri Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme was approved, which would benefit 10 lakh people. During the training the beneficiaries will get Rs 9,000.

Lease for 10 years to six dairy plants of the state:

  • Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said that six dairy plants of the State Cooperative Dairy Federation would be given on lease for 10 years. These plants are located at Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Noida, Prayagraj, Azamgarh and Moradabad.
