The 30th edition of the Singapore India Maritime Bilateral Exercise (SIMBEX) will commence in Singapore from 21-24 September 2023. Last year,the 29th SIMBEX 2022 was held in India in October 2022.
The annual Naval exercise involving the Indian Navy and the Singapore Navy has been held since 1994. It is the longest continuous bilateral maritime exercise the Indian Navy has with any other country.
The SIMBEX-2023 exercise will be conducted in two phases. The Harbour phase of the exercise will be held in Singapore from 21-24 September 2023, followed by a Sea Phase.
The Harbour Phase will witness a wide range of professional interactions, cross-deck visits, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEE) and sports fixtures to enhance interoperability and mutual understanding between the two navies.
The Sea Phase of SIMBEX 23 will involve complex and advanced air defence exercises, gunnery firings, tactical manoeuvres, anti-submarine exercises and other maritime operations.
The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Ranvijay, INS Kavaratti, Submarine INS Sindhukesari and Long-Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft P8I are participating in the exercise.
