The 27th WAIPA World Investment Conference (WIC) started on 11 December 2023 in New Delhi. This four-day (11 to 14 December 2023) WIC is being organised at the India International Convention and Expo Center – Yashobhoomi, New Delhi. The World Investment Conference ((WIC)) is being held in India for the first time.
- WAIPA stands for World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies
Theme of World Investment Conference (WIC):
- This year's conference focuses (theme) on “Empowering Investors: IPAs Pioneering Future Growth”.
Chief Organiser of 27th WAIPA:
- The National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency of the Government of India and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) are organising the conference. This is the largest-ever world investment conference under the aegis of DPIIT.
- Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will deliver the keynote address on 'The Role of Trade and Investment in the Decade of Action' on December 13.
- On this occasion, Union Minister Piyush Goyal will also launch the ‘Experience India Centre’ (EIC). This Experience India Center will showcase the best of what India has to offer.
- It will primarily perform services through various technologies viz. virtual reality, augmented reality, interactive touch screens and projection mapping.
About the World Investment Conference (WIC):
- The WIC, an annual flagship event of WAIPA, is a platform for global investment promotion and innovation stakeholders.
- WAIPA's World Investment Conference is being held in India for the first time. More than 1000 people, 50 Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) and various multilateral agencies are participating in this conference.
About the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA):
- The WAIPA was founded in 1995 in Geneva as a non-governmental organisation.
- WAIPA aims to provide investment promotion agencies to grow their economies.
- WAIPA includes more than 120 member agencies representing more than 100 countries.
