Vanasthali Vidyapeeth, a residential educational institution for women in Rajasthan, was awarded the 25th Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award for 2020-21 on 20 August 2023.
On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, former Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari presented this award to Banasthali Vidyapeeth for its outstanding contribution in the field of national integration, peace and harmony.
- Several senior Congress leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi were present at the event.
Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Award:
- The Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Award was instituted in 1992. The Sadbhavna Award is given every year on 20 August, the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi.
Vanasthali Vidyapeeth:
- Vanasthali Vidyapeeth was established by Hiralal Shastri, former Chief Minister of Rajasthan. In 1929, Shastri established Jeevan Kutir in a village called Banthali (Vanasthali).
- After this, Vanasthali Vidyapeeth was started on 6 October 1935. At present, this Vidyapeeth has taken the form of a major national institution of women's education.
